Easterseals Fund a Treatment: The Kasner Family
Organized by: Andrea Mascaro
The Kasner Family “Our perfectly healthy twenty-four year-old son was diagnosed with stage III Anaplastic Astrocytoma (an aggressive form of brain cancer) after surviving a grand-mal seizure on August 16, 2014. While enduring two surgeries, thirty-three rounds of combined radiation/chemotherapy followed by an additional six months of aggressive chemotherapy, he continued to work his way through his second year of medical school. He completed his final exam on the same day as his last chemotherapy treatment. Kevin is a fighter and we know he will achieve his goals of beating brain cancer and receiving his medical degree in 2017. Through hope, prayers and support from organizations like Easter Seals, Kevin will enjoy a very long, happy and healthy life filled with many more personal and professional goals and achievements. Despite the best medical care, Kevin’s recovery and rehabilitation is still not 100% clear. We know that he can continue to be a warrior, equipped to fight and beat this disease, with the right resources and support. Like many of the young adults serviced by Easter Seals, Kevin continues to address and overcome rehabilitative obstacles.” - Barbie & Ken Kasner Easter Seals provides comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and development of a treatment plan for individuals with neuropsychological disorders, which may include traumatic brain injury, concussion, cancer, developmental disabilities, emotional disorders, stroke or complex medical issues.
