This Tu B'Shevat, the JCC Early Childhood Center (ECC) initiated a very exciting Tikkun Olam / Tzedakah project. Back in January the children of the ECC started collecting plastic container lids - hundreds of pounds of them - that will be turned into benches for the Center. Now that we've surpassed our goals of 400 pounds of lids and caps, we will trade them (and some $$) in for benches.
But we need your help! We need to raise $1000 to finish the project and our goal is to have these benches in place before the end of summer.
Donations will help convert our cap collection into the finished benches and provide transportation for volunteers traveling to pick up the benches in Evansville, Indiana. We're excited to work with Green Tree Plastics on creating these unique benches!
This project has been exciting in many ways. Children have been integrally involved in collecting and sorting caps over time, and the goal is very concrete. Even though our students already recycle, they rarely make the connection between what goes into the recycling bin and the recycled products we use on a daily basis.
All donations made towards this project are tax-deductable!
