The Jordan River flows through the heart of the Middle East – culturally, spiritually, and physically. It is a holy river to half of humanity. Yet today, the Jordan is a trickling sewage canal, its flow hardly reaching the Dead Sea which relies on the Jordan for replenishment. The Dead Sea is dying.
What’s the good news? Because of our work over the last decade, fresh water began flowing naturally from the Sea of Galilee into the Lower Jordan River this past May for the first time in 49 years!
But it is just a drip compared to what is needed. We need your help to make the Jordan mighty once again.
Rehabilitation of the Jordan requires more water and more sanitation work, achievable only by cooperating across those same borders between Jordanians, Israelis, and Palestinians. The river’s waters need to be shared fairly amongst all the region’s residents and rights restored to access the river and its valley.
There are five ways you can help EcoPeace/FoEME use its role as the only Jordanian-Palestinian-Israeli NGO in existence to rehabilitate the Jordan River and stabilize the Dead Sea:
1 – Outreach to your faith community and raise $5,000 to help EcoPeace/FoEME win the SEChallenge. Your community (one busload) will get a free 1 day tour of the Jordan River from EcoPeace/FoEME for your next trip to the region!
2 – Ask your friends for $50 to help one youth participate for a day in our cross-border environmental education camps.
3- Help us fund bike trails, cultural events, and eco-education facilities at our three EcoParks and the Jordan River Peace Park, thus exposing thousands of the Israelis, Palestinians and Jordanians to tangible examples of the win-win benefits of peace and environmental cooperation. Raise $3,000 to help us win the SEChallenge and get a free weekend stay at the SHE or Auja EcoParks!
4- Join the EcoPeace/FoEME team for the SEChallenge and tell your friends about some crazy thing you will do with their support to Save the River Jordan and Revive the Dead Sea…people laughed at us when we started 10 years ago. Yet now, for the first time in 49 years the Jordan River is starting a comeback!

--Create the region’s first cross-border master plan for the entire lower Jordan River valley watershed
-- Create the trans-boundary Jordan River Peace Park, a key project to return fresh water to the Jordan and demonstrate the value of ecotourism.
