ECUADOR EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND
Organized by: Cristian Adrian Vigal
Event Name: Help Support Ecuador Earthquake Relief
On April 16th, towns from all regions in Ecuador suffered massive devastation from a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. 233 are reported dead, 1,500 injured and the number of missing people has not been officially established yet. States of emergency were declared for the provinces of Esmeraldas, Los Rios, Manabi, Santa Elena, Guayas and Santo Domingo. Emergency rescue teams are being mobilized but the areas most affected are the ones harder to reach due to severe structural damage, Ecuador has not seen this level of damage in decades. Thousands of people have been evacuated and will not have a home to come back to, roads have collapsed and some people remain incommunicated. The amount of work that lies ahead is huge, and it will most likely take years to complete. Ecuador is a beautiful and diverse small country with a lot to offer to the world and it needs your help today. 100% of the funds raised will go to CARE, a non-profit that has more than six decades of experience helping people prepare for disasters, providing lifesaving assistance when a crisis hits, and helping communities recover after the emergency has passed. CARE has worked in Ecuador since 1962 and its work has included an emergency response to severe floods in 2008.
