BENEFITING: Avoda Foundation
"Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
We don't just want to teach local Thai communities how to 'fish', we want to teach them how to do it in a sustainable way that benefits the whole community, creating jobs, profit & be a healthy food source.
Permaculture is the answer. We want to create a successful permaculture model here at Avoda that can be used to teach local farmers about the diversity, stability and resilience of a natural ecosystems. It will transition communities from being dependent consumers to responsible producers. It requires less energy resources & gives the community a sustainable foundation.
"Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive systems which have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of the landscape with people providing their food, energy, shelter and other material needs in a sustainable way." - Graham Bell, The Permaculture Way
