BENEFITING: City of Hope
The Eden Sunflower Memorial Fund has been formed in memory of Eden Alana Siesser. On May 5, 2014, at the age 21 Eden lost her valiant battle with cancer. Well known as Eden Sunflower, she never defined herself by her illness, but by her humor and her love of life.
Eden’s battle began at age 15 with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After treatment at City of Hope she went into remission for two years. At 17 the cancer returned, and she was treated with a stem cell transplant using her own stem cells and went into remission again. At 19 she was diagnosed with Leukemia and received a Bone Marrow Transplant from her older brother Ari, who was a perfect match and went into remission again. Sadly, this past April at 21 years old, the Leukemia returned and Eden passed away a short time later at the beginning of May.
During Eden’s five year battle she graduated high school and began her studies at Santa Monica College. During this time she had been working at Urban Outfitters and for Rachel Zoe Inc. Her treatment at City of Hope afforded her these opportunities. Eden had a very special relationship with her physician, Dr. Forman, who is also a researcher working hard to transform the latest research into lifesaving cures. Eden’s Family have decided that her fund will be designated to support Leukemia and Lymphoma research at the lab of Dr. Stephen J. Forman, M.D., F.A.C.P. and the Hematologic Malignancies Program at City of Hope.
