ETHIOPIAN DIASPORA FELLOWSHIP wrote -
I am truly blessed to share that I have been selected to be a part of the first cohort of the Ethiopian Diaspora Fellows! Through this fellowship, four other Ethiopian-Americans and I will be moving to Ethiopia on August 17, 2015 to serve in our homeland for the next six months.
As an EDF Fellow, I will participate in ongoing training to develop my skills in leadership, service, and share my journey through creative storytelling. I am excited to finally pursue my life-long dream of serving in Ethiopia, and to develop my identity as an Ethiopian-American.
As a daughter of a parent who struggled with cancer, issues surrounding health disparities and access to care deeply resonate with me. That is why I am grateful to have been afforded the opportunity to work for Hello Doctor/Telemed Medical Services in Ethiopia. Hello Doctor is a service provided by Telemed Medical Services – and is the first and only privately owned, mobile enabledhealth care delivery platform in Ethiopia. Hello Doctor allows users to request an ambulance or home visit by a health professional, ask about standardized drug information, or find out where the closest health facility is in Ethiopia.
The cost of my trip to Ethiopia is $1000.00. So far, I have been able to pay $250.00, but need your help in covering the remaining $750.00 within the next three weeks! I am thankful to God for all the love and support I have received throughout this journey. Please help me in making my dream of serving and giving back in Ethiopia a reality!
