BENEFITING: EDGE OF SEVEN INC
ORGANIZER: EDGE OF SEVEN INC
I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel through some far-flung corners of the world, and one thing that I often notice is the hopeless conditions for women and girls in rural communities.
There are six hundred million girls in the developing world, and one in four, or 125 million, are not in school. This compares to the roughly 30 million girls that live in the US and gives you an idea of the size of the problem: If societies and communities are only as strong as their weakest members, what does the future look like for so many young women? What will the future look like for their children?
This Holiday Season, I'd like to invite you to give to an amazing organization, Edge Of Seven, based in Denver Colorado that is working to educate and empower women in rural communities and make our world better. As a member of the board, I can't say enough about what we are doing at EO7: Over the past four years we have directly helped 2,500 people and touched the lives of roughly 10,000 in developing communities across the globe.
In 2015, we will be working with local leaders in-country to build a dormitory for girls pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Nepal, a women's resource center in Kenya, and schools in Nepal, Kenya, and Nicaragua.
Consider the impact the following contributions can have:
- Gifts of $10 or $20 will be used to buy materials and resources for a school;
- $50 purchases 25 earthbags to construct a wall of a girls' dormitory;
- With $100 we will carry in a door or window frame for a school building;
- $500 purchases enough earthbags to build an entire classroom in Nepal.
If this isn't a good time for you, reach out to me about joining one of our trips in 2015 to build in one of these countries. If you would like to know more, visit us on www.edgeofseven.org and stay tuned for an amazing new site that will launch early next year to share our impacts with all of you.
Finally, I know that we all receive a number of requests like this each year, and that there are MANY causes worthy of our support. I also know that we live in a time where each of us have the ability to make an enormous difference on the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.
Support a great cause, sign up for a trip, or share this page with a friend or network...and be a part of something great: Joining the global movement to lift girls, women, and rural communities out of oppression and poverty.
