SpineHope's Executive Director, Krystal Sarcone, hopes to raise funds for the nonprofit through running in a local 5K.
You may not know this, but Krystal used to run competitively in high school. Unfortunately, and ironically, due to back problems she was advised to stop her high-intensity running. This broke Krystal's heart and she has ever since missed competition.
At the time when Krystal stopped running she was at her peak. She was the top female runner in her school, all-county and had set several high school records. A couple years ago she was told that if she wanted to, with careful training, she could return to running.
And so, when Krystal heard about a 5K at one of her local favorite nature spots, the Mohonk Preserve (where she also enjoys rock climbing) she thought it was a perfect opportunity to combine the things she loves: nature, running and SpineHope.
Though it has been years since Krystal has trained or ran competitively- she's hoping that with your support she'll work towards setting an impressive time on race day Aug 9th. Her personal record for a 5K is 21:27- let's see how she does this year!
Please consider supporting Krystal as she goes the extra 3 miles for SpineHope!
A portion of the proceeds will go towards registration costs, which in turn are donated to the Mohonk Preserve another nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the beautiful Shawangunk Ridge and to promoting a wider understanding of the environment and its role in our lives. All additional funds raised will support SpineHope's various projects which ultimately help bring surgical care to children in need of treatment for their spine deformities.
