We urgently need to raise the $66,000. to close the gap in our 2013 budget. Our annual budget for next school year is $126,000. We have a pledge of $60,000. and need to match (plus $5,000.) that amount to keep our school for 120 open. YOUR donation matters to our serious girl students. Together you and I are changing lives.
CW promotes: gender equality, personal self-esteem, and human dignity for the ignored, indigenous female population in rural Andean Society in Cusco, Peru by educating, preparing and empowering girls for a womanhood of economic survival, leadership and opportunity.
Besides free, primary, academic education the school stresses personal development by instilling social and personal values, self- esteem and integrity.
The curriculum guidelines are set, monitored and evaluated by the Minister of Education but it does not pay teacher’s salaries. The regular curriculum is augmented with classes on Hygiene, Art, English, and Quechua. The school frequently participates in civic events, which are an integral part of Cusquena life, such asParades, festivals, holiday celebrations, demonstrations, and most recently Celebration of the International Day of the Girl. In addition CW provides: daily hot meal (often the only meal of the day) ; Transportation in school van from central location to and from school. Attendance is 99% with transportation provided to families unable to pay bus fares.
