BENEFITING: PRATHAM USA
Educating underprivileged children has become one of my greatest passions! I embarked on a mission of raising $50,000 in 2017 to support this cause. As a first step in this endeavor, I decided to Donate My Birthday. Instead of globetrotting, hosting birthday parties to friends & family, receiving gifts etc., I want to use this opportunity to raise awareness & funds to support this cause. My goal for this first step is to raise $10,000 during my birthday month of February & couple of weeks into March. I'm going to match every $$ up to first $10,000 pledged.
My passion to serve in educating underprivileged children grew multifold when my Dad, a retired medical doctor sponsored medical school education for two kids in India. The first child after becoming a physician ended up in opening a medical facility in his small hometown rather than going after lucrative career in a corporate hospital in a major city, which is the most common thing for newly graduating physicians in India.
I was invited to join the board of Pratham USA recently. Pratham's mission statement is "Every child in school and learning well". Pratham's mission goes hand-in-hand with what our family already believes in & it's ideally portrayed in the famous quote, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". We also believe that educating a child & more so a girl child can lift the entire generation from the so called underprivileged realm into potentially most powerful economic demographic of the world in the future, creating entrepreneurs & even beyond.
Accountability & transparency is the key to support any charity organization, and having met with members of Pratham USA & after reviewing their financials, I strongly felt this organization will fulfill my dearest objective & passion!
No donation is a small donation to help this cause!
