BENEFITING: EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE
You've seen them around town. "Will work for food. Need help. God bless." A hungry person who struggles to survive the taboo of homelessness. What was this person's life like before becoming homeless? Was the person abused as a child? Is the person fighting to be allowed to repay a debt to society? Has technology antiquated the person's skills? Is the person unable to afford treatment for a mental illness?
We want to start a homeless shelter that focuses on providing education to our clients. We need to pay bills (rent, utilities, etc.), and we need college-level textbooks, bunk beds, food, and other necessary items to promote education.
After one emergency night, we will require all clients to remain on-site while reading a non-fiction textbook from our library for a minimum of three (3) hours before being allowed to sleep in our shelter. The alternative is receiving at least a 2.00 GPA in the current or previous term in an accredited college. As needed, clients will also be required to receive, and prove, treatment for drug abuse, gambling abuse, alcohol abuse, and sex addiction.
If you have any books or materials to contribute, please let me know. All textbooks on all levels of all subjects would help very much. Our federally registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization will provide a receipt for your donation. All contributions help.
