Educational Support for Children of the Nepal Earthquake
Organized by: Kristen Norman
As Nepal continues to deal with the ongoing aftermath of last year's eathquake, children in rural villages are striving to regain a sense of normalcy through education. We are raising money to help buy school supplies for these children and support schools in remote areas most affected by the quake.
One year ago today, Nepal suffered a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that destroyed ancient structures, roads, and entire villages, claiming the lives of almost 9,000 people. To this day, people continue to live in poorly constructed and temporary housing while they wait for the distribution of aid to rebuild.
Understandably, these conditions have put a strain on parents' ability to purchase school supplies for their children. In addition, the lack of organization and support from the government has made it difficult for local schools to maintain their normal programs.
We believe all children deserve access to education as the foundation to develop and thrive. Moreover, an educated population is key to the future health and prosperity of Nepal as a country. All donations will go directly to support childhood education in rural villages.
