Educational Scholarships for Teen Girls

We need your help now more then ever! We are raising money to create educational scholarships for four teen girls currently at the Nuevos Horizontes domestic violence shelter. These teen girls, most of whom are also mothers, have no outside familial support and so will end up staying at the shelter until they reach legal age (18 years); At which point, they must leave the shelter to make a life for themselves on their own. Unfortunately, there are very few institutional or societal supports in place for this transition to independence. They find themselves alone, with very little money, social network, or societal support. Very few are financially able to continue their studies. We are raising money to continue supporting the educational and transitional expenses of four of these girls once they leave the shelter.
Teen Profiles:
Maria is 17 years old. She has been at the shelter for three and a half years. She is in her 2nd year of high school, with a concentration on accounting. Maria has a loving 3-year-old son. Although he was the result sexual abuse and she was very young to have a child, she is a wonderful mother and raises her son with much love and patience. She is extremely motivated and serious in her studies and hopes to continue to University.
Yolanda is 16 years old and has a now 2-year-old daughter. She has been at the shelter for two years. She was the victim of incest and was rejected by her family after she denounced her abuser to the authorities. She has never studied before and is learning to read and write at the shelter. It is a struggle for her to be a mother at such a young age and like all the girls she is still dealing with the trauma she has suffered, but she loves her daughter and wants to continue forward in her life.
Gloria is 16 years old. She lost her parents when she was very young and consequently suffered much abuse at the hands of her uncle, who took on her guardianship after their death. She has been at the shelter for 3 years and during this time has evolved into a very motivated student. She is in 8th grade
Julia is 16 years old and just gave birth to her son in December. Her parents were killed when she was 5 years old. Her brother took responsibility for raising her but instead involved her in a life of drugs and crime and abandoned her to raise herself. She started working cleaning houses when she was just 7 years old. She was raped and ended up pregnant; which is when she came to the shelter this year. She has never gone to school before and is excited for the opportunity to study and for a fresh start in her life.
