Education and Schools for Honduras
Organized by: Maureen McGowan
Students Helping Honduras, is an organization which allows college students to travel to Honduras, one of the most impoverished nations on earth. SHH focuses specifically on the access to education for the young people of Honduras. Currently, there are very few functioning school buildings in the country and those that do exist often have leaking roofs, limited plumbing (and thus unusable bathrooms), and limited school supplies. This winter, I would like to travel to Honduras with SHH to help build one of the local schools. Personally, this trip would mean so much to me because I am studying education here in the United States. One of my greatest goals is to provide all children access to an education. I have worked everywhere from inner-city Baltimore to private schools and I would like to continue my work abroad. With your help, I could afford the plane ticket to Honduras and the volunteer fees. My university does not have a chapter of SHH at my school yet, and I have to register for this trip as an individual and raise everything on my own. This trip would not only be a personal journey, but will affect the lives of dozens of children.
