Education on a Human Scale is partnership between between Malian and American students to establish a community education center in Niamakoro, an impoverished neighborhood in Bamako, Mali. The center, equipped with a library and two classrooms, will provide access to written and electronic media and offer classes aimed at enriching the educational opportunities for neighborhood children.
I will be traveling to Mali in September 2011 to get the project started in collaboration with Moussa (Balla) Coulibaly, a friend and Malian law student, and the citizens of Niamakoro. Between September and February we will conduct research, hire and train teachers and get the first session of classes going.
We are looking for funds to help with the logistical costs of getting me to Mali, as well as to allow us to buy more materials and pay more teachers. We also need French-language books. If you have books or other materials to donate or other questions please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
