Thank you for visiting this page. My name is Miguel Valdes and as you probably know I am a senior at Kansas State University. There are many reasons I chose K-State over other schools, but none of them sum up my experiences here as much as the Edgerley-Franklin Urban Leadership Scholarship. I'm so incredibly humbled and proud of my fellow E-F scholars and what we have accomplished. It is fitting that in my last year here at K-State we travel to serve in Boston. Any financial support that you can provide is greatly appreciated, and thank you so much for taking the time to learn about this amazing organization!

About the Edgerley-Franklin Scholarship:

The Edgerley-Franklin Urban Leadership group is supported by both the Edgerley and Franklin families to promote future engagement with the challenges facing urban communities and families. The Urban Leadership Scholars Program seeks to shape the next generation of great American urban leaders. As Urban Leadership Scholars we have the knowledge to make sound judgments, the character to flourish under the pressures of leadership, and the vision to bring new solutions to our nation's most pressing urban needs. We influence and inspire future generations to value education, hard work, and achieve academic and career success.

Over Spring break we will be traveling to Boston, Massachusetts for an educational, service trip focusing on the importance of youth development in urban communities. This trip will allow us to actively engage with a community in need and live out our mission of service as we work with the Boys & Girls Club of Boston. We will have the opportunity to interact directly with youth as mentors and tutors providing career guidance and college preparation support. In addition, we will have the opportunity to learn about the operations of one of the most successful Boys & Girls Clubs in the country and the impact such programs have on urban youth. Your financial contribution for this trip will help us share this priceless experience. Thank you very much for your consideration!
