BENEFITING: Literacy Partners, Inc.
February 26, 2013 will be my Eighteenth birthday. I'd like to consider myself "all grown up" by that time. I have long since grown out of being given gifts - not for a lack of appreciation, but because having my friends and family, and loved ones give me unnecessary gifts which they spent hard-earned money on makes me feel guilty. I will direct them here instead, where I will then send any funds donated to Literacy Partners, Inc. (http://www.literacypartners.org/). As someone who dreams of one day being a professional author, I firmly believe literacy is of the utmost importance. I'd like one day to live in New York City, it's one of my dreams. Did you know that over 2 million New York City residents can be described as being functionally illiterate? That’s 25% of the total population in the city. That's insane. I'd love to make a little bit of a difference, so please - wish me a happy birthday and give what you can. Every little bit is appreciated.
