In December of 2014, Eileen was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a rare neurological disease that affects one person per million each year. This scholarship was created with the intent of continuing her passion to provide students with a solid educational foundation. As an Upward Bound student in Pittsburgh, PA, Eileen acquired the support and assistance she needed to move on after high school and acquire both her Bachelors and Masters of Education degrees. Applying her education to a professional career in higher education, she was dedicated to serving the needs of students for over 30 years in 5 different colleges. This scholarship will provide an Upward Bound student at Binghamton High School with financial assistance as they embark on their collegiate career. 100% of the funds raised will go towards her Upward and Onward Scholarship, the first of which will be awarded on May 28th. The goal is to sustain the scholarship for as long as possible. Your support of this scholarship will ensure that Eileen’s passion and work will continue.
Generous contributions to the Upward and Onward scholarship have also been recieved from:
- Sally and William Orband
- Donald and Shirley Bauer
- Callie Hayes
- Bob and Arlene Engle
- Janet Rutkowski
- Nicole Dadamio
