El Buen Samaritano is an outreach ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. We are a faith-based, non-profit organization with 501(C)3 status. We are funded through a mix of local government contracts, private and foundation grants, individual giving, and corporate donations. This diversified funding stream enables us to provide integrated, quality services to more than 10,500 people each year.
We take great care to be responsible stewards of these funds and are proud that 88 percent of operating expenses are invested on programs and services for individuals, families and our community.
El Buen’s beautiful campus is located in a South Austin neighborhood with three buildings. The first houses our education and social services boasting seven classrooms, each accommodating up to 20 students and a fully-equipped food pantry. The second is San Francisco de Asis Episcopal Church, which includes a kitchen for healthy cooking demonstrations and open space for meditation and yoga classes. And the third building is our clinic, where thousands of uninsured and underinsured families receive quality, patient-centered care.
While we specialize our services for the Latino community, individuals, volunteers and staff from of all backgrounds, faith traditions and beliefs are encouraged to join our mission. We have an especially strong partnership with local Episcopal churches and schools who volunteer for our various programs.
