BENEFITING: Conservators' Center
One of our elderly binturongs, Ruffian, has a hard time in the heat of the summer despite a cool breeze from his fan and the ability to take a dip in his pool. He (and his girlfriend, Stella) have moved into an enclosure attached to a small building with an accessible indoor area. While the building is great for keeping them warm in the winter with a heating unit, we also need to ensure it is retrofitted for summer use to help keep Ruffian as cool as he needs to be.
In order to do so, we need to install a small air conditioning unit. The cost to purchase this unit and install it will be $400.00, and our goal is to complete this project prior to the high heat of the summer so we can keep our beloved binturong nice and cool.
The Conservators’ Center in Burlington, North Carolina is home to nearly 100 exotic animals representing 19 species – including more than 30 lions and tigers. This haven for wild animals in need of a home has a 3-part mission: education, conservation, and rescue. We are dedicated to providing our residents with the highest possible quality of care.
