THE STORY:

I am very excited to be running this year’s Boston Marathon for two Non for profit organazations, Chikimbuso & The David Ortiz Children’s Fund! Year after year, I am inspired by the many athletes that set out to run an amazing race here in Boston. My gorgeous wife Kim was blessed to run the Boston race 2 years ago and I was so proud to watch her run, cross the finish line, and receive a marathon medal for running the most prestigious race in the world! I am a goal orientated person. My inspiration for running this year is multi-faceted, but was encouraged by the amazing work done by both organazations.

Chikumbuso, a grassroots project in Ng’ombe, Zambia, provides an alternative lifestyle to the most vulnerable women and children in the township. Chikumbuso provides free schooling for the children, as well as adult training and capacity building, income generating activities and community building programs.

The David Ortiz Children's Fund is committed to helping children in New England and the Dominican Republic who do not have access to the critical pediatric services they need. The David Ortiz Children's Fund is proud to partner with Massachusetts General Hospital and World Pediatric Project through its work with CEDIMAT to fulfill its mission. Working together, these organizations are increasing the number of children receiving lifesaving surgeries.

The David Ortiz Children’s Fund help children receive necessary surgeries right here in my home city as well as the Dominican Republic. As part of the Dominican heritage, my attachment to help those in need means something to me and my family as I would not be here today if it were not for such caring non-profits. this run is my chance to give back to others locally and where I come from. I had known very little about training for marathons, but have been a quick learner the last few weeks. Training for this marathon has been an amazing experience and I love being out there every day getting ready for the third Monday in April, Marathon Monday. Please consider helping these groups by donating in support of my run!
