eleveneighteen zine project
Organized by: monika weitzel
eleveneighteen is a forum for those experiencing houselessness to communicate what is interesting, important, and relevant to them in the form of a self published magazine, or zine. The zines feature art work, poetry, stories, and photos of individuals experiencing houselesness and are printed at no cost to contributors. Individuals can submit content through street outreach, and pop up workshops we host at various shelter locations. eleveneighteen facilitates opportunities for financial empowerment by assisting contributors in selling zines in the manner in which the contributor chooses. eleveneighteen crew members have sold zines with participants by flying signs and establishing thoughtful retail partnerships. all proceeds from zine sales go to zine contributors. Zine contributors have used zine proceeds to pay for medication, housing application fees, vet care, and most recently an eye exam. We just sold out of our last copies and our seeking funding to print another batch. We also would like to set up a square space membership and create the option for clients to sell zines online. All donors will receive a copy of the zine and documentation of fund utilization. Thanks so much!
