EVENT DATE: May 06, 2014
Hi beautiful people!
On May 6, I will be celebrating my 22nd birthday. On May 19, I will be graduating from Penn. I have been blessed my whole life with opportunities, especially regarding my education. Attending college and graduating was never a question, and because of that, I have been pursuing my own aspirations these past years. Thinking back on my college years at Penn, I am so grateful for the people I've met and experiences I've had. But not everyone gets that chance. I've been living for myself these past four years, so for my last month at Penn and for my 22nd birthday, I want to give back, something small that can hopefully impact the lives of students who don't have the opportunities I did.
As a result, I will be aiming to raise $222 (or more!!) this month to help Yessica Alejandra, a 6th grade student from Colombia sponsored through Givology (http://www.givology.org) to buy her school supplies. This is the amount she needs to fully be covered to attend school for the year. 100% of the money raised this month will go directly to Yessica in her pursuit of a chance for an education. You can read all about her interests and aspirations here: https://www.givology.org/~yalejandra/. When you donate, you have the option of writing a letter to Yessica encouraging her in her studies, and in exchange for your donation, I will translate the letter to Spanish and send it to her! Just leave it in the comments when you donate, and I promise I will get it to her.
Instead of birthday/graduation presents, please help me in giving back and serving others! Even a small amount can go a long way. Thank you so much in advance!
"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." -Philippians 2:1-4
*New goal of $500 becuase my friends are the best! We have successfully raised money to support Yessica's schooling for a full year. Thank you so so so so much, let's impact another student's life!
