BENEFITING: EMERGING LEADERS IN TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING
In the mountains of rural Mexico, the country’s largest science project is underway at the INAOE research institute. In nearby towns, families live in poverty with few opportunities for education. ELiTE will offer a new summer program in 2013, bringing local kids to the center of the research campus for 3 weeks of hands-on science fun.
Your donation will help to fund the science-kit-in-a-box that ELiTE teachers will share with the girls and boys who are eager to explore electronics, chemistry and computer programming. And we’ll be offering Astrophysics for the first time, using one of the world’s largest telescopes.
We only have until March 1 to fund this through CrowdRise. A contribution of $250 will fund the entire 3-week session for one child. Your tax-deductible donation, in any amount, will help ELiTE to open a world of possibilities for enthusiastic students in Mexico.
Emerging Leaders in Technology and Engineering, Inc. (ELiTE) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that seeks to encourage the growth of socially responsible leaders in engineering and science through technical education, professional mentorship, and creative problem solving in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields for students from under-resourced communities. For the past few years ELiTE has run programs in Ghana, Jamaica, Tanzania, Mexico, and Harlem that promote sustainable engineering education through project-based learning experiences.
