Veterans and servicemembers …
Veterans and servicemembers are absolutely essential to creating a thriving social, academic, and intellectual environment. They are a very diverse, eclectic group – as diverse as American itself – and they bring a wealth of personal experiences and insights to the classroom and the campus. Most importantly, their service sets an extremely valuable example for everyone on campus, including students, faculty and administration. They have made a conscious, proactive, highly personal decision to serve their fellow citizens and their country. Thus, they not only understand the concept of sacrifice for the greater good, they’ve lived it. To me, that sends an extremely powerful, resonant message to all of us regarding the value of service. Whether it be service to one’s country, one’s family, friends, neighbors, community or whatever else, the example set by our veterans teaches us the value of service, compassion, and selflessness. Thank you for your support of Student Veterans of America (SVA) and making a donation towards yesterday’s warriors, today’s scholars, and tomorrow’s leaders. Best – Rodrigo

Thank you for supporting Leave No Veteran Behind (LNVB) and our efforts to capitalize on the CrowdRise Veterans Challenge.

Because of your support, Leave No Veteran Behind was SUCCESSFUL IN WINNING the first $5,000 challenge grant issued by the CrowdRise Veterans Challenge!

Here are a few of the programs that will be supported by your contribution:

1. The Expansion of Leave No Veteran Behind's Safe Passage Program, which would employ up to 150 former service members to decrease youth violence throughout Chicago during the largest school closure in the history of American public education. Where at the same time, LNVB will also leverage those resources many times over to run the largest transitional-work program for Veterans in the country, which to date has distributed more than $1 million dollars worth of wages to men and women returning.

2. The Creation of Leave No Veteran Behind's GreenCorps "Seeds to Success" Program (see attachment), which will directly employ 60 youth and 8 Veterans to work together and revitalize a blighted and vacant lot on Chicago's Southside near the intersection of 76th and Saginaw Avenues in the city's South Shore community.

3. The awarding of three more $5,000 Retroactive Veteran Scholarships with the support of the Veterans United Foundation.

4. The completion of the 2013 Chicago Marathon by Leave No Veteran Behind's 1st Coordinated Running Team, which currently has 34 members and runs scheduled throughout the summer in addition to social events hosted by the Chicago Cub, Girls in the Game, and the Chicago White Sox.

Again, thank you for your commitment to the cause and for supporting our organization as our nation prepares for the pending troop drawdown from Iraq and Afghanistan, which will see 500,000 active-duty service members transfer to "Veteran status" in the next 18 months.

Where in the end, let's all continue serving those who have already served and please consider building on this momentum by doubling down on your contribution!

All the Best,

Eli,

Thank you for supporting Leave No Veteran Behind (LNVB) and our efforts to capitalize on the CrowdRise Veterans Challenge. To assure you that your contribution is going to be used strategically during this defined "challenge period," I wanted to take a moment to tell you about the financial commitment of LNVB Board Chairman Maynard Anderson.

Maynard has graciously agreed to contribute a total of $50,000 throughout the entire CrowdRise Veterans Challenge calendar, ending on July 3, 2013. This is great news for our entire organization as everyone on staff is simultaneously working to create a solid foundation for this exciting time of growth for Leave No Veteran Behind. Here are a few of the events and programs that will take place in the upcoming months:
