Hello Ridge Rockers!
We created this event because after years of running and hiking in the Hudson Valley, we wanted to do something that would help preserve the environment and the trails for future generations. We also wanted to inspire people to take on a tough yet achievable physical challenge.
The course winds along beautiful carriage trails, through the forests and across the magnificent ridgelines of the Preserve, lands which The Nature Conservancy has described as “one of Earth's last great places.” Whether you walk, run, or do a combination of both, Rock the Ridge will be a spectacular outdoor adventure and an accomplishment that you’ll be proud of for a long time!
We were thrilled with the participation in the first year of Rock The Ridge, and even more so with the second year's participation. We wish to thank everyone involved for making the 2014 event an even greater success.
The 2013 Rock The Ridge included 188 participants, 90% of whom were first-timers at the 50-mile distance, and for 2014, the event grew to 266 registered participants. Combined these two events have raised over $200,000 to support the environmental mission of the Mohonk Preserve, New York's largest not-for-profit nature preserve, a fact about which our Ridge Rockers should be especially proud.
On behalf of the entire Rock The Ridge team, we welcome you to our special community, and ask you to join us on May 2, 2015 for what will be 50 spectacular miles in "one of Earth's last great places."
