About the event...
Come enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Hopatcong on a scenic bike ride, a 1 mile or 5K adventure trail run, or a beautiful paddle on the lake itself. Participate in one, two or all three events to discover and celebrate some of the many ways to enjoy Lake Hopatcong. Have fun, challenge yourself, and help raise money to support projects for this spectacular lake. All events will begin at the beautiful, historic Hopatcong State Park.
If you raise $100 for our cause between September 20th and September 27th, you'll be entered to get a $100 gift certificate to a Lake Hopatcong favorite, the Upstream Grille.
The Upstream Grille is an American Fusion Restaurant led by Chef Ken Salmon whose passion and creativity are at the heart of every dish made. They are located in beautiful Lake Hopatcong.

Just email a link to your fundraising page to everyone you know and the moment you raise $100, you'll be entered to win. And, be sure to tell all your friends and family that you want a chance to win...they'll for sure want to help you.

Training Events - Get ready for Lake Loop 2015
September 26, 2015 - 9am - Yoga at the Historic Landing Train Station
Michael Broking, an instructor at Black Bear Fitness, will be teaching a Kripalu yoga class at the Historic Landing Train Station to benefit the Lake Hopatcong Foundation and to inspire you to GET FIT for Lake Hopatcong at this years Lake Loop. The Bike Ride
The cycling course will go clockwise around the lake and consist of approximately 20 miles of rolling terrain. This is a great course for experienced cyclists, weekend warriors or riders who want to stretch their legs and enjoy the ride. As the name suggests this route loops the lake and offers many lake views that you can truly appreciate from a bike. Along the way you can also appreciate some of the amazing homes and historic sites as you ride. Although you may have driven some of these roads, they will seem very different when enjoyed from the saddle of a bike. This course is not flat but, there are no significant hills that might deter those looking for an enjoyable ride. This is not a race. Go at your own pace and enjoy the ride.
If you are an experienced cyclist who is looking for more of a challenge, the 40 and 62 mile courses include a hilly extension added to the 20 mile course. You’ll enjoy the same amazing scenery while challenging yourself with the additional mileage as well as the more challenging terrain.
No trikes or training wheeled bicycles allowed. Helmets are required.
The Adventure Run/Walk 1 mile or 5K
The adventure fun run/walk will take you in and around Hopatcong State Park with challenging hilly trails, over the sandy beach and back to the finish line. This is also not a race. Run or Walk. The varied terrain will be fun and interesting and will give you a new appreciation for Hopatcong State Park. Presented by members of Salt Shakers trail running club, this course promises to be one of the more unique run/walk you’ve participated in.
The Lake Paddle
NEW this year! Paddle around the lake with a choice of 2.5 or 1 mile course. Enjoy the perspective paddling quietly through the water. Push off and experience the peaceful quiet beauty of Lake Hopatcong. Presented by The Lake Hopatcong Paddling Club, club members will mark and patrol the course to provide a safe and fun day of paddling. Participants may use their own kayaks/paddleboards/canoes at their own risk. Coast guard approved life jackets are required for all paddling participants. Kayaks/paddleboards/canoes will be available for rent for $30 if pre-registered. Tandem kayaks are welcome but, each participant must be registered.
Participants are welcome to participate in 1 or up to 3 events but, this is NOT a triathlon. This event will NOT be timed, come challenge yourself and GET FIT for Lake Hopatcong. For those wanting to choose 3 events our Lake Loop experts recommend the 20 mile bike ride, 5k adventure run and 2.5 kayak course. Starting times have been staggered to allow for a participants to participate in multiple events. Those looking to push themselves to the max consider what we are calling the Bertrand's Beast: 62 mile cycle course, 5k run, 2.5 mile paddle ride.
Come for your events and stay for Music, Food and Fun throughout the day. We are thrilled that Byrdgrass will be returning this year!. We will also enjoy music from a local favorite, Wolf Mojo!
Get Fit for the Lake!
Online registration ends 10/9/2015 (midnight). Pre-Registration is FREE, all that we ask is that you raise a minimum of $35 for the cause by the day of the event. During the registration process you will be directed to start or join a team fundraising page on Crowdrise. Fundraise right up until the day of the event. Our fundraising goal for this event is $50,000 and monies raised will go towards projects and initiatives that directly improve all aspects of Lake Hopatcong’s environment and community. Check out our website for more details on the AMAZING work the LHF is doing: www.lakehopatcongfoundation.org. Day of Event Registration is a $55.00 flat fee and opens at 7am on October 11th.
When you preregister and create your own fundraising page, reach out to friends and family to support you on your journey. Prizes will be awarded for fundraising accomplishments. Lake Loop 2015 includes prizes for top individual fundraisers, stocked rest stops, cue sheets, mechanical support, door prizes, SAG vehicle, post-ride music, tour map of historical landmarks on route, food and fun! First wave leaves at 8:00am from Hopatcong State Park. An adult parent or guardian must accompany each participant younger than 18. The bike and run will go on rain or shine, the paddling portion of the event may be cancelled if weather conditions are not safe for participants. All fees and donations are non-refundable.
