Hello neighbors and friends. My name is Elizabeth Gloeggler and I am honored to be running for Montvale Town Council. I have called Montvale home for most of my life. I grew up on Montvale Avenue, went to Memorial School, Fieldstone and then graduated from Pascack Hills (class of 92). When my husband, Jan Eggers and I were looking for a place to raise our two little girls, we knew Montvale was the place. We bought our dream house on Hillcrest Avenue in 2011. Our girls, Ettie (8) and Evie (5) can often be seen walking down to Memorial or selling lemonade in front of our house. Over the years I have learned so much from you all …Montvale has the most amazing mentors, leaders, and teachers. Now I want to give back.
As the CEO for Literacy New Jersey, I believe in doing work that makes people’s lives better. In 2014 I was on the team that merged nine small literacy organizations to form Literacy New Jersey; a non-profit organization that helps adults learn to read, write and speak English. It is my job to make sure every adult in New Jersey can read a book to their child or get a job that supports their family.
By overseeing a staff of 20 and managing Literacy New Jersey’s statewide budget, I have the professional experience you need on your town council. Literacy New Jersey also recruits, trains and supports over 600 volunteers every year who do the life changing work of teaching more than 1,500 adults across the state. You need someone on the town council with plenty of experience engaging volunteers. You and I can work together to make a difference in Montvale.
The top three issues we are facing together: Planning for Montvale’s future, increasing community involvement, and ensuring all residents are represented in local government.
First, our issues in Montvale need your community input and involvement. As a council member, I will work with you to increase community participation by creating more groups of residents to study and drive improvements to our town, whether it is determining the best use for Montvale’s corporate campuses or making sure our kids have safe playgrounds. We can build a mechanism for more community input, engagement and follow-up through working committees.
Second, you and I need to make sure there is responsible planning for our existing vacant corporate facilities. We need to work together to determine the best use of existing office space in a changing economic landscape. Your voice is very important …you need to be part of the conversation, plan and decision making process. Let’s help the town council figure out how to make our corporate park vital for today and the years to come.
Finally, you need a town council that has the voice that represents the wonderful diversity of Montvale. I am running for town council because I want to be a voice for families with school-age children. You need a town council that represents you and your family. Running for Montvale Town Council is giving me the opportunity to talk to so many of you about the issues that really matter to you. I want to hear about the issues that matter to you.
Montvale …you need someone for town council who cares about Montvale, has the experience to make a difference and will work with you so great things happen. Support Elizabeth for Montvale. No donation is too small! I would be honored to serve you on the Montvale Town Council. Thank you.
