I have been a volunteer/fundraiser for the March of Dimes for 20 years. In my current role as Fund the Mission Chair for the Suburban Chefs Auction committee, I hope to help raise $40,000 to help ensure a fighting chance for every baby. We would love for you to join us for our event, Thursday, November 19th, at Bolingbrook Golf Club. For tickets, log onto our website at, https://www.marchofdimes.org/illinois/events/events_12922.html
Thanks so much for helping us reach our goal by donating to Fund the mission through this site. 100% of the proceeds are completely tax deductible.
We are so blessed to be able to team up with the Harjun's again this year. They started raising money for March of Dimes in 2010, raising over $35,000 to date. In honor of Harjun, we have created the Harjun Memorial Challenge.
Ron and Shelly Sangha have been married for 10 years; their daughter, Anjali, is four year old. In August of 2009, they gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Harjun. He was only three days old when he passed away. Thus began their journey with March of Dimes.
Shelly was having a healthy pregnancy up until 32 weeks when she went into emergency C-section. Harjun was born on August 22, 2009. It was a very rough experience for Ron and Shelly since they had been trying for several years and were excited to one day meet their baby boy. When they delivered him early, he had many health problems. All of his organs were shut down and not working. Eventually, reality hit them and they lost our son 3 days later. With testing, they had found out that he was diagnosed with a rare condition called Velamentous Cord Insertion.
Ron and Shelly were both heartbroken to have lost their son. The following year they both decided that they wanted to do everything we could to keep his memory alive. Finding the March of Dimes, reading the mission and learning about all the research that is done to help babies, they knew this is what they wanted to be involved with.
They created their family team “Team Harjun” for the walk that first year. With the great love and support of all of their friends and family, they raised over $5,000 the first year and had a team of 35 walkers. They have now walked for 6 years with the same team. Every year they have an overwhelming amount of support from their family and friends. They continue to work hard to do all they can to support the March of Dimes. They hope one day with all the research and support of the March of Dimes, there will be no family who will have to go home without their little baby.
Please join the Sangha family in their mission to honor Harjun by giving a donation. A presentation will be made during the Fund the Mission portion at the Suburban Signature Chefs Auction on November 19th.
