BENEFITING: CHESAPEAKE CLIMATE ACTION NETWORK
EVENT: CCAN Polar Plunge 2017
EVENT DATE: Jan 28, 2017
WOO HOOO!!! WE DID IT!!! Meghan, Colin, and I got to National Harbor around 10 (early!), so spent over an hour walking the docks in 35F air to drop our core temps. (No, that was not our intent, but perhaps it helped.)
After some amazing and motivating speakers, we took the Plunge, with Colin leading the way, diving right in and swimming out to deep water. Meghan, the stronger-willed one, quite deliberately walked out, and bravely dipped almost completely under. I ran out to follow Colin and of course had to swim under as well. We survived the 42F water, toweled off, got our picture taken ... then darned Colin went in again so of course I had to, too! :-P
MANY THANKS TO MY WONDERFUL TEAM MATES Meghan Zenz and Colin Starger, not just for making this year a great inaugural event for the Mt. Washington Polar Bears, but also for already pledging to make NEXT year's team and fundraising TWICE AS GOOD!!!
And once again, THANK YOU FOR DONATING. You, our friends & family, are who made this year's campaign a great success, and we truly do appreciate YOU. Please join us in 2018!
The funds that come to CCAN in 2017 will be used to KEEP WINTER COLD by running campaigns focused on banning fracking in Maryland, pricing carbon in the District, and stopping fracked gas pipelines from being built in Virginia, among all their many other good efforts.
