Ella Cain Blonsky is smart, strong & the most lovable 11 year old girl you will ever meet.
Our family has recently learned that she has Synovial Sarcoma, which is the rarest form of soft tissue cancer. It's in an advanced state but Ella is determined win this battle.
We are all very confident that she will fight and win this battle but need your help with all of her required daily medications and other necessary treatments.
We live in Michigan but are seeking treatment in Ohio. Cincinnati Childrens hospital has one of the few pediatric sarcoma departments. They have specialist that have worked with this type of cancer and have children coming from all over the country to recieve treatment. They also have proton radiation therapy that has been established would be better for treating Ella. Michigan doesn't have proton radiation therapy available yet. She has started her treatments at Beaumont Royal Oak. They're building a proton center but won't be open until the summer of 2017. Ella is about 6 months too early for treatment at Beaumont which will be the first in the state.
Because I have an HMO they will not cover cancer treatment out of state unless it's a research study. Ella doesn't qualify for research studys because of the blood clots in her body. We are hopeful that the clots will clear up soon and she will qualify but until then we need to start with the best available treatment. The cost of treatment will be well into the tens of thousands and at this time we are paying for the whole thing since we are considered self pay.
