BENEFITING: OKLAHOMA CITY NATIONAL MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
EVENT: OKLAHOMA CITY MARATHON 2016
EVENT DATE: Apr 24, 2016
I'm running the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon for the second time. Oklahoma City is my adopted home, and the city and its people have been so welcoming to me. Every single person who lived in OKC on April 19 1995 was affected by the bombing, whether directly or by it impacting someone they knew. Through Red Coyote (where I work, train and play) I've had the opportunity to get to know one of the survivors of this terrible incident, and see firsthand how the Memorial Marathon impacts those who survived, the families and friends of those who were lost, and the whole of Oklahoma City.
This year, I've been coaching a group of incredible ladies who are all completing their first marathon ever! And they chose the Memorial Marathon for that honour. It's going to take us a long time: about 6 hours. Most people don't like DRIVING for that long, and we're doing it under our own power.
This is the biggest fundraiser for the Bombing Memorial, which doesn't receive any state or federal funding. Please consider donating to help the Memorial continue the amazing work it does, not only in OKC and the State of Oklahoma, but all over the country and the world, to help combat terrorism and provide strength and comfort to those affected by it.
Thank you! Ellen
