On October 22 I’m running a 7K race in Laos, part of the Luang Prabang Half Marathon to benefit the Lao Friends Hospital for Children. At this point in my running career this will be an endurance event but if it’s the last race I ever run I can’t think of a better purpose.
The LFHC , as well as the Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia, was founded my dear friend photographer Kenro Izu. I worked for Kenro several decades ago and have done everything I can to support his incredible efforts to save the lives of children. His hospitals have treated over 1.6 million kids in less than 20 years – all for free! You can read more about his inspiring work here: www.fwab.org.
This will be a cool adventure for me, but I’m hoping to make it more helpful for the cause. While I’m there I’ll photograph daily activities at the hospital and a lot of the events surrounding the race throughout the week.
If you can help, too, by sponsoring my run, it will make what is sure to be an amazing experience for me even more meaningful.
