BENEFITING: EL POZO DE VIDA
Our home for human-trafficked minors has been operating for the past 5 years and we’ve outgrown our space. We are moving to a new location.
The mission of El Pozo de Vida (The Well of Life) is to serve, rescue, restore and re-socialize women and adolescent girls in one of the most highly trafficked destinations in the Americas: Mexico City, Mexico.
In 2011 El Pozo de Vida opened a safehouse for rescued human trafficking victims in Mexico City. The safehouse can house up to 12 girls at once, however for the last year it has run at over capacity, with up to 20 girls living their at one time. The average time they are in the home is between 6 months to 2 years. Girls can voluntarily stay in the safehouse once their legal case has closed. El Pozo has a holistic care approach which includes therapy, support, and education in order to help them heal from their past trauma, and enable them to live a successful future that is not marked, scarred, or ruined by their experiences of sexual exploitation.
