BENEFITING: Range Of Motion Project NFP
EVENT DATE: Oct 13, 2017
My name is Elyssa Ronda and I will be volunteering with the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) on their October trip to Guatemala. I am currently looking to go to Occupational Therapy next Fall and by participating in this trip I will gain further knowledge and experience to help me through school and further into my career.
ROMP believes in the power of education to transform the unequal distribution of prosthetic care in the world. Under supervision, practitioners, students, and ROMP clinicians work side by side with real patients in our Guatemala clinic- exchanging ideas, sharing clinical techniques, and working to improve patient outcomes. Educating future clinicians to the realities of disability care in resource poor settings makes them better medical professionals and advocates. Exposing ROMP staff to the latest clinical techniques makes them better clinicians for our patients.
I have been given the opportunity to work with healthcare professionals to build and provide prosthetics for individuals in Guatemala suffering from disabling illnesses, congenital conditions, or traumatic injuries. Prosthetic care is hard to come by in this developing country which is why ROMP offers this incredible program multiple times per year to help the individuals of Zacapa, Guatemala resume their daily life activities and become more mobile in their communities.
ROMP is a nonprofit that ensures that every dollar donated will go towards delivering the best quality care. As a new graduate any support to help fund the trip will be greatly appreciated. By helping me raise $2,000 to cover the expenses for the trip you are not only helping me reach my goals of becoming an OT and gaining experience I cannot receive anywhere else, but also supporting and providing thousands of amputees living in Guatemala the medical support they need.
I have never been so excited for an opportunity that combines my love of volunteering and my passion for becoming an Occupational Therapist. I hope you will help in supporting my journey with this wonderful organization!
Thank you for your time and help!
