2 years post-diagnoses: Honor B by helping others go to Family Camp
June 16, 2016
The ConnecT1D Family Camp is near and dear to our family's heart as one of the first places we met families like ours after our 4- year-old was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. The first few months of multiple daily finger pokes, insulin shots and carb counting were incredibly overwhelming, but when we walked into Camp to see a room full of kiddos doing the same thing--and then running off to jump, laugh and play--we suddenly felt much less alone and incredibly hopeful.
Family Camp was the start of us finding our T1D village and for that we are so very grateful! What we love about this amazing camp is the layers of connection and growth opportunities not only for the children with Type 1 and their siblings, but also for the parents managing their child's chronic condition, the teen counselors who serve as leaders and role models, and the adult volunteers who give their hearts along with their time.
Will you join our family towards our goal in contributing to this special place for T1D kids & parents to find this community? Thank you for helping us pay forward the support we felt at the beginning of our T1D journey.
