BENEFITING: SANKARA EYE FOUNDATION USA
EVENT DATE: Jun 12, 2013
In an effort to help eradicate curable blindness in India, I am looking to head the 2nd Annual Initiative to donate funds through the Sankara Eye Foundation. This is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to realize the goal of 20/20 vision for the poorest people in India by the year 2020. Unfortunately, those who live in rural India do not know that curable blindness, such as Cataracts and Glaucoma, is actually curable nor do they have the resources to get the proper medical attention.
With your help, last year we raised over $1,500. My goal this year is to raise $3,000 and I would be extremely grateful for your support as any help is appreciated.
- Sankara Eye Foundation has been able to reach a remarkable milestone and performed its millionth free eye surgery on March 4, 2013
- 1/5 of the world's blind live in India
- 45 million Indians are visually impaired (roughly 12 million are totally blind)
- 80% of the visually handicapped can be partially or fully cured
