Emergency Aid for War Torn Eastern Ukraine
Organized by: Revived Soldiers Ukraine
My name is Oksana and I am a first generation Ukrainian living in New York City. My parents and grandparents left occupied Ukraine during the turmoil of the Second World War and settled in the United States as did countless other Ukrainians. Over more than half a century later, the country of my ancestors has become a zone of military conflict again due to unlawful occupation.
As a result , thousands have lost their lives and many others injured, including women, children and the elderly. People have died or had limbs amputated because medical personnel could not get to them in time to administer common life saving procedures. Many children have also been left orphans.
One of the main issues is that Ukrainian Emergency Medical Service cars are not used for country back roads therefore greatly impairing paramedics' ability to reach the victims.
However, After consulting with local paramedics, my colleagues and I decided that the best and cheapest option would be to purchase a used pickup truck (priced around 2000-3000$) from the European Union and transport it to Ukraine. Our other concern lays in the fact that winter is less than two months away and both volunteers and victims will be needing warm thermal clothing. We would greatly appreciate any monetary donation towards the purchase of a vehicle and thermal clothes. Alternatively, if anyone has a pick up truck in good working condition and wishes to directly donate it to us, that would be wonderful as it would save time and lives.
Thank you sincerely for caring about the people of Ukraine!
