BENEFITING: COMMUNITY BROADBAND RADIO ASSOCIATION
We (The Community Broadband Radio Association, Inc - a IRS 501c3 charity)are now licensed by the FCC for WKDW 97.5 FM to build and operate a community radio station in the North Port, Florida area serving a population of over 150,000. For the last three years we have been providing 24/7 community programming on the internet at KDWRadio.com (check it out!) We are the only community station in the entire broadcast area. The FM broadcast brings with it the ability to provide immediate emergency broadcast capacity for amber alerts, brush fires and full broadcast during hurricanes and other natural disasters. When everything else goes down in a natural disaster, we can still use our car radios for information. We have partnered with the City of North Port and the City is providing at no cost: 1. An antenna location on a 100' City tower for the FM stick; 2. A secure room in the emergency broadcast center with power and internet connectivity; 3. Key personnel for us to train in the use of the equipment. We now need to provide the basic transmitter package and dual FM antennas to get us up and broadcasting before we enter the height of hurricane season here in SW FL. That's where we need your support. Help us to provide the critical infrastructure to keep our residents safe and informed during natural disasters and to rapidly assist finding lost or abducted children (an Amber Alert) or impaired elderly citizens who wander from caregivers.
