Emergency Crisis for Babapur Village
Organized by: Amit Patel
You may have seen the news or heard about the floods last week in India's Western state of Gujarat particularly in the district of Amreli. One critical piece of local history and infrastructure was the Babapur Institute that many have supported and/or visited in the past few decades. Babapur Village received 22 inches of rain in 6 hours, resulting in all of the school equipment, orphanage dormitories, food and water supplies, and personal effects have been badly damaged. BBC also provided the coverage that can be seen in the following link: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-33281474 I am requesting your help with the recovery process to return it back to the pre-flood condition. The local community has been engaged in clean up and immediate food and water needs as seen in the second attachment. However, they will need a lot more help for the restoration and medical/hygiene challenges. This disaster has put the institute back about 7-10 years. Your generous donation will help with the ability to nurse the institute back to a functioning one. Please encourage your kids & family members to help if appropriate. I believe the grassroots support will be able to shoulder the larger challenge.
