Emergency Electric Bill
Organized by: Geeder Gee
Due to the fact that we live in a rural area, and the cost of propane is so high ($1,500/month), my family heats our home with a wood burning stove in the winter months. We supplement the wood heat with electric space heaters, which simply eats up the electricity. With the winter of 2014/2015 being so cold, while we paid $300 every month towards our electric bill, we still ended up with $3,000 past due. We continue to pay on the balance, but it hasn't moved below the $2,800 mark. We are now at risk of having our services shut off. The electric company will allow us to get on a payment plan, but we need to put $1,400 or 50% down. We simply don't have that kind of money laying around as a working family of four. As I'm sure most people can't, we can't live without electricity, all of our appliances are electric and I have two children in my home. If I can simply put the down payment down, I can continue to pay the $300 a month and not be at risk of shut off. Any help provided is truly appreciated, and I will most certainly continue to pay it forward when I'm able to.
