Emergency Heart Surgery
Organized by: jarmaine shorts
I am trying to raise money to pay for my medical bills that my insurance won't cover. I just had Emergency Heart surgery on August 18, 2015. I am unable to work for approx. 2-3 months if not longer. On Tuesday August 18th I called 911 and told them they need to hurry up and get to my house "I believe i am having a stroke " I am in extreme pain and I have numbness in my legs. Finally, After 3 calls to 911 the paramedics finally arrived and took me to Mercy "Misericordia" Hospital. After the doctors checked my vitals, took a X-ray of my stomach & took a CTA They told me i am getting transferred immediately to the Hospital Of Pennsylvania & going directly into the operating room for emergency heart surgery! That's when I found out good news and worst news. "I wasn't having a stroke but , it was something just as serious if not worst I had a ascending aorta and a type A dissection (*Aorta was ruptured & separating) I underwent surgery for my ascending aorta and hemiarch repair of type A dissection . After about 6 1/2 - 7 hours of surgery I was taken from the operating room to the heart and vascular ICU which there I stayed for 3 days. From the ICU I got transfer to the step done floor which I stayed for the remaining 6 days of my stay. Finally after 9 days in the hospital I am now home !!! But unable to do a lot of things such as: go to work, drive, lift anything greater then 10lbs, I can only walk 30-60 minutes daily, & I am on 6 different medicines : 4 alone are for high blood pressure. I also have a at home nurse I have to see 3-4 times every week. Hopefully in about 2-3 months I will be able to return back to work so I can catch up on my bills from being out of work for so long. Until then I have to stay positive, believe in god, and be very thankful !! I'M ALIVE !! All donations given are greatly appropriated . $5, $20, $100 what ever you can give will truely a blessing. ------------------------------------ *Aorta the main artery of the body, supplying oxygenated blood to the circulatory system. ** A dissection occurs when a tear of the intima (the inner lining) allows blood to leak into the media (middle layer). This creates two passages for blood: a true lumen, which is the normal passageway of blood, and a false lumen, the newly created passageway.
