BENEFITING: Foundation for Sustainable Development
EVENT DATE: May 28, 2011
In a few months, I will be graduating from the University of South Florida (USF) with a B.A degree in Geography and a Minor in Sociology. Immediately after graduation, I anticipate to travel to Cochabamba, Bolivia and intern with a local organization known as Fundacion Pro Habitat (FPH), a partner organization with Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) http://fsdinternational.org/node/98 .
FPH promotes sustainable community development in various ways including: promoting social equity through community planning, infrastructure development and economic development, to name but a few.
Upon graduating from USF, I plan to enroll in graduate school and pursue a M.A degree in either Community and Regional Planning or Urban and Regional Planning. My internship opportunity in Cochabamba is a great opportunity for me to not only contribute to an amazing program in this part of the world, but also a chance for me to advance my knowledge and skills in solving community development issues affecting developing nations by learning how to formulate, manage and evaluate projects as well as write grant proposals and etc.
However, I urgently need your financial assistance because achieving this goal is not easy. The training, placement, family homestay, field support, airfare, travel medical insurance, visa fees and pocket money for a period of 10 weeks approximately costs
$7,185. [program fees $4, 600 for 10 weeks, visit: http://www.fsdinternational.org/apply/fees; roundtrip air fare approximately $2000; visa fees $135 and travel medical insurance fees appx $150; pocket money since I’ll be there for about two months $300.]
Your generous contribution gives direct support to Fundacion Pro Habitat by providing them with a dedicated, enthusiastic and hard working volunteer-that is me. Each amount you contribute, big or small, gets me several miles closer to Cochabamba.
I will post pictures and a presentation to narrate my volunteer experience in Bolivia when I return. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or if you know anyone else who might be interested in offering support. I accept all forms of payment: checks, money orders, cash, direct deposit etc.
I can’t thank you enough for helping make this experience possible for me. I highly appreciate your support and encouragement.
