The Buddy Walk was developed by the Natonal Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome awareness month in October and to promote acceptence and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Walk has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to over 250 walks worldwide. The 5th Annual Wisconsin Upside Down Buddy Walk is the only Buddy Walk in Wisconsin. In 2012 Buddy Walks raised over $11.5 million to benefit local programs and services, as well as national advocacy and public awareness initiates of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.
The Buddy Walk is the most important fundraiser held for Wisconsin Upside Down each year. Funds raised keep our many programs going including providing important resources and supports for local families, schools and clinics.
