Swim 24Challenge benefits the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation to promote local aquatics organizations, water safety and drowning prevention in San Diego. According to the CDC, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental injury-related deaths among children aged 14 years and younger.
As many of you know, I've been a lifelong avid swimmer. It is always heartbreaking whenever I hear of a child drowning since it is such an easy skill to learn, especially in San Diego (with such an active swimming community). A surprising number of adults don't know how to swim as well. I've given countless free UCSD students swim lessons but my resources and reach is limited. San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation has a the resources to "drownproof" San Diego with proper funding.
I will be swimming in the Swim24Challenge on Aug 30/Aug31. Your donation and support is greatly appreciated!!
