Emily Paige graced this earth for 10 beautiful days.
Emily's story ~~
I had a very normal pregnancy my 20 week ultrasound came back with flying colors and we found out we were going to have a girl. Emily was born Thursday May 6th 2010 late via C-section. Her apgar scores were 9/10 higher than our oldest son when he was born. The following morning Emily's doctor said she heard a small heart murmur and it was probably nothing to worry about but since it was Friday she would have another doctor listen to her heart the next morning if he still heard something some general testing would be ordered.
Saturday May 8th 2010 one of the hardest days of my life!!! The doctor came and still heard the murmur and ordered an x-ray, EKG and heart echo. My husband and I were blind to what any of this meant. (Meanwhile Emily showed no signs of any issues and was nurising and breathing normally) Emily that day was in and out of my room all day for the testing. Around 3 p.m on Saturday the NICU doctor came in and said we have some bad news your daughter has a very serious heart condition and needs to be transported immediatly. I really didn't hear much of anything after that to be honest. I knew 1 thing they were not going to keep me at the hospital and I demanded that I go with her and be released even though it had only been 36 hrs since I had my c-section. They agreed to release me if I took it easy. I walked down the hall my eyes were almost swollen shut from crying so much without my baby in my arms. She was being transported via ambulance to Loma Linda Childrens
Since this all took place on a weekend Mothers day weekend at that. Only a on duty cardiologist was on. So we had to wait until Monday for the "team" to look at her case. Sunday mothers day not how I invisoned spending it in the NICU.
