Emily's Medical Missions Trip to Africa
Organized by: Emily Branson
EVENT DATE Jan 01, 2016
This past May I had the privilege of graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Integrated Physiology. I am going to be applying to medical school next summer in hopes of becoming a pediatrician. Helping others in impoverished areas has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I have had amazing experiences volunteering at a local homeless shelter, for the kids ministry at my church, as well as at the Children's Hospital. While these environments have stoked my passion and love for people, I always knew that I wanted to partake in a long-term medical missions trip to Africa. I have a bleeding heart for developing countries, especially in regards to providing medical care. I am absolutely ecstatic to announce that I am going to Iringa, Tanzania for a six week medical missions trip with Gap-Medics this January and February. I will be stationed in a local small hospital nearby our guest house that houses the other interns. I will have the opportunity to engage with the hearts of the African people, help others less fortunate than me, and attain a very different perspective of healthcare in a developing nation. It would be a great honor if you would help participate in this journey by funding my trip to Tanzania. Thanks for your consideration in helping me accomplish my dreams. Take care and God bless.
