Emily's Race for Access
Organized by: Emily Farler Miller
Tanzania needs more trained medical doctors! Current statistics have the country at approx 1 doctor per 50,000 citizens, and huge portions of the population cannot access medical care. I have seen first hand over the years of living here how money and ability to travel to larger cities equal access to better medical care, while the majority of Tanzanians are left with limited options because of the scarcity of trained medical personnel. I believe strongly in the work that Weill Cornell at Bugando is doing through Dr. Rob Peck and others in training Tanzanian doctors to serve those most in need and am raising funds through running the Comrades Ultramarathon in South Africa in June. Any funds received will go directly to the medical students being trained here in Mwanza, for their needs of books and equipment needed for their studies. Thank you in advance for any funds donated for this need close to my heart!
