EVENT DATE: Mar 01, 2013
When most of us picture Jamaica, we think of white sand beaches with crystal clear water, bustling, colorful shops, smiling locals, and Bob Marley playing in the background. While Jamaica is beautiful in many ways, a large part of the local culture consists of poverty, hunger, poor health care, and violence.
I am traveling to Kingston, Jamaica in March with a program offered through my work called Seven Hills Global Outreach (SHGO). The purpose of SHGO is to support the humanitarian efforts of health, education and human services organizations in developing nations through technical assistance, social venture opportunities, and related collaborative efforts.
To learn more about SHGO, you can visit the website at: http://www.sevenhills.org/affiliates/global-outreach/
Altogether, I need to raise $1,500 to cover the costs of my stay. During my time in Jamaica, I will be working with local organizations to support and explore Jamaica's cultural, social, political, and historical contexts. With your help, we can spread awareness of Jamaica's struggles while helping to establish a relationship that will lead to services that will support Jamaica’s development in the future
Help me help those who need it. Every penny counts! With your donation, no matter how big or how small, you will be making a difference.
